BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIC was, IMO, their pinnacle. I think that they got somewhat predictable & unimaginitive in all of their albums after that. Stadium Arcadium is the best of those, however. The return of guitarist John Frusciante (sp?) helped out considerably.

Well it looks like I'm the only scotch drinker around... a bit of Laphroaig 10 in a snifter caps off a long week nicely.
I'm a scotch drinker as well. I also share your taste in the Islay Malts. The peatier the better as far as I'm concerned.
Ardbeg 10 yr is a nice, smoky Islay. A bit smokier, I think than Laphroaig or Lagavulin.
If you like peat, and if you can find it, try Port Charlotte. Laphroaig & Lagavulin average out to about 55-60 PPM (Parts Per Million) of peat, whereas Port Charlotte comes out in the high 80s.
Slainte!

That's a relief. Call me intolerant, but I was a little worried about the prospect of a Mormon President ( I was born & raised in Utah. I can tell you from personal experience that Mormonism is a weird, spooky cult.) There needs to be less religion in politics, not more, spookier religion.

I wish I had put more thought into mine. I was reading "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman at the time that I joined up here. Low-Key Lysmith was a character from the book. (Loki Lie Smith-Scandinavian pagan god of trickery & mischief). Now, I don't like it. I wish I had just gone with Breck. Oh well.

AlyMC:
Here are some tips on choosing a vodka that will be to your liking.
If you like a clean vodka with little bite and no residual aftertastes, go with Finlandia. Finlandia also makes a grapefruit-infused vodka that makes an excellent Greyhound. Greyhounds are much better when you fresh-squeeze your own grapefruit juice. Pink grapefruits are better still.
Ketel One is another excellent choice from Holland.
You could also try a real potato vodka. (The previous two mentioned are made from grain.) Potato vodkas tend to be a little oilier and silkier in mouth-feel. They tend to have a bit of an earthier aftertaste (if any) than the grain vodkas. Monopolowa is a smooth, inexpensive Russian potato vodka, as is Luksosowa. If you want to try a a top-shelf potato vodka, give Chopin (from France) a taste.
I recommend avoiding Absolut. Overrated and overpriced, as is Grey Goose.
Of course, there are the old standbys: Stolichnaya & Smirnoff. Both are quality distillates.
If you like Greyhounds, you may also enjoy a Seabreeze (Vodka, equal parts grapefruit & cranberry juices).
Cheers!

I can relate. My wife & I had been renting the same house for the past 4 years. Our landlord, a complete dick, decided on the 10th of January that he wanted to sell the house. He gave us 20 days to vacate (which, unfortunately, is legal in the state of Washington). it took us 14 of those 20 days to find a place that would take our beloved cat & dog. (We found a really nice house, BTW). The struggle was more than we had bargained for. We even took our dog, Ronin with us to meet prospective landlords. Every one of them said that my dog was too big. (He weighs about 45 lbs.)
The thought never occured to us to get rid of the pets. They are family. Ronin has been through thick & thin with me for the past 11 years, always there when I needed a friend. I could never think of abandoning him, no matter how bad things got. I cannot fathom how someone could just leave an animal locked in an empty house to starve to death. There needs to be stricter penalities for animal cruelty & neglect.

Clarity in the Afterlife? If there IS an afterlife.
by Low-Key Lysmith injust a thought i had while driving home today.
not that i definitely believe in ghosts, but has anyone here had or heard of a deceased jw relative coming back and trying to warn their still living loved ones that the cult is all a sham?
you would think that if there is indeed some sort of afterlife, that once misguided jws would have some clarity once they passed on and went to a better place.

Gregor,
I apologize for calling you an ass. Rough day, short fuse-no fault of yours.
I was watching an episode of Ghost Hunters that I DVR'd earlier today. Got my mind going. I guess I just sincerely hope that now that my mom has passed, that she somehow finally figured it all out & that I, when I go, will do the same.
